WE’RE EXPECTING TOO MUCH FROM OTHER PEOPLE!!!

That’s my remarkable discovery of today! Talking to a friend and hearing her talk about her disappointments made me realize that we EXPECT WAY TOO MUCH FROM OTHERS. Me included!!! I’m seriously getting this wrong myself. We need to expect MORE from GOD and LESS from PEOPLE. Got that?

Watching a show today made me cry. It was my fav person who communicates what dead people say to their still living relatives. And a deceased father was saying that he regretted not showing his older son more love and attention while he was alive. The son was there, and I could imagine the pain he has gone through not feeling the love he was EXPECTING from his father.

HERE’S THE DEAL:

People can only give us so much. We have no idea the baggage they’re carrying around and what they’re trying to deal with themselves mentally. We need to stop giving everyone such a hard time and be more gentle and more loving. I loved what God had to say to me in an appointment with Him recently:

“And if you often repeat this loving effort of your mind, you will gain the habit of living more with your Creator than with any created thing, more than the unseen than the seen. You will get to the point where you can use the things of earth and relations with people only for the love of God’s kingdom and for His glory. That, my child, is pure love—never to think of oneself but of God and how best you can please Him.” – He and I, Gabrielle Bossis

Wow! Imagine getting to that point that we just love everyone for God’s glory and do everything pleasing to Him in every moment. What a wonderful world this will be. Let’s give it a try!

I LOVE MY LIFE WITH GOD!!! Have you taken a long look at what God is doing for you? Well, I do all the time! And that’s why I can tell you with all the confidence that a life lived pleasing and close to God is the way to an extraordinary life. I couldn’t even imagine this path God has wonderfully guided my life. Let me tell ya, His plans for us are REAL good! So don’t miss out!

HERE’S THE DEAL:

Life is filled with hurts, humiliations, mistakes, disappointments, failures, frustrations, challenges, and bitterness. But I want us POLITELY handing them ALL over to God and HAPPILY go on with life with our FOCUS on God and all that He is doing for us. I spoke to Aunty O again, who taught me to swallow all these hurts and disappointments that come my way. I wanted her to know how her advice made me so happy. She said life is too short to be carrying around all these negative feelings with us. LET THEM GO!!! I want to spend my life happy and full of Joy!!!

Let’s live a life pleasing to God in every moment, forgetting what anyone else is doing, just being the loving people He would have us to be and leave the rest with Him!

NIKKI, WHAT’S THE PROBLEM HERE?

I was so upset at myself for all the negative thinking that got the best of me on Saturday. Despite all the beating my head with a stick to focus on all the HUGE positives in my life, I stayed stuck on THINKING THE WRONG THINGS. And let me tell ya, when your mind is filled with negativity, it’s tough to be happy and focused on what’s truly important.

But your girl here has bounced back with LOTS of lessons. Like this beating our heads with a stick. We have to do this every day reminded of this famous verse:

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8

We can CHOOSE to be HAPPY and CONTENT no matter what life throws our way focused on all our BLESSINGS. It takes LOTS of practice beating our heads with sticks so we can stay focused on God and the thoughts He Himself would have us to think, but so worth it. But looking back to how far I’ve from the Nik who used alcohol as her go-to sedative, I’m thrilled. Alcohol now has no more place in my life!

But I’m happy for this eye-opener on Saturday. I’m thanking God for showing me that I still have to fight against these frustrating thoughts. I can now work on being BETTER. My prayer is for God to help us all throw off anything that’s holding us back from living our best and happiest lives with Him. I need to be MORE alert, and as soon as I catch myself in one of those moods, I can say, ‘No, no, no! We’re not going there!!!’ And then get my mind focused back on God and His will for me.

Let’s get rid of anything that’s keeping us from being our best and HAPPIEST SELVES. When we fall and have these failures, let’s quickly get back up and then use them for our good by reflecting on where we went wrong and how we can be BETTER. All for God’s glory!!!

HOLD MY HEAD UP HIGH, I’LL STAND TALL”

Were the words I fell in love with from the Boyz to Men’s song, I Will Get There, while working on my book again until about 2 a.m.

It has to be in a particular format and instead of wasting time complaining about it, I’m doing what my DVD exercise trainer, Shaun T, has taught me – to dig deep, having the endurance for exercising as well for my life. Honestly, I’ve become very lazy, but I’ve decided today that I will accept God’s invitation to play life at a higher level and areas where I’ve been weak, I will become strong.

And about this playing life at a higher level, God has challenged me again through the rapper, Prince EA, to answer a vital question: “Who am I in the deepest sense?” He spoke about us being loyal to conditioned thoughts passed on from generation to generation. Thoughts that we’re so loyal to that we’ve fought over, killed over, gotten angry, sad and depressed over. Me included! I get sad and depressed over the same crazy thoughts over and over again. I’ve had enough! I’m going to the next level of focusing on important goals like bringing humanity closer to God, seeing my children grow up to be the superhumans they’re capable of becoming, helping my husband take our businesses to new levels of success, and becoming the most awesome version of me.

That means no more constantly thinking crazy thoughts such as worry, fear, and insecurity; They’re not becoming of superhumans rolling with God! Instead we pray, work hard and let God worry, doing our best and leaving the rest with Him. That also means we’re spiritually and mentally disciplined to new levels of thinking about our lives, goals, dreams, and aspirations and we’re constantly, constantly, constantly catching ourselves when we find ourselves thinking negatively and saying, No, no, no! We’re not going there! and reprograming our minds with new thoughts with the best and most beautiful outcomes.

We must beat our minds with a stick, becoming mentally disciplined, focused and strong like John Joseph taught me.

I can already see my husband and me at our kids’ college graduations and me doing significant work in the world for God. I have faith and like the Boyz to Men song says, “I will get there!”

“Hold my head up high, I’ll stand tall. And I swear this time I won’t fall.”

Dear God, help us to dig deep and become the superhumans You intended for us to be. Amen.   KEEP CALM—YOU’RE ROLLING WITH GOD

“THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT GOD DID THIS FOR US”

Was me to a friend today! God is so intimately involved in our lives, and I will never get over how He generously showers me with His deep love and faithfulness. I’m like, ‘Wow, God! You did all this?’

And it all began one day when my daughter, Ember, surprisingly called me from her school requesting to be picked up early. I didn’t hesitate because she hardly ever wants to miss school. When she got in the car, I asked her if I should take her home or if she would come to work and hang out with me for a bit. She asked to go to work, and our time alone together there was the beginning of God revealing some pretty spectacular plans He was working on behind the scenes for us.

Let me tell ya, God is too much!!! I have new confidence and respect for Him that whatever He asks of me, I try to do my best to please Him. Finish. Everything is between God and me, not between me and anyone else. Got that?

I woke up this morning to this beautiful message from Him:

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” – John 16:33 AMP

God, tell me about it! This verse is spot on! There are so many annoying and frustrating situations we have to deal with, but with God on our side we can be cool and calm while He’s at work in the supernatural realm on our behalf. Wink! Wink!

Our job is to listen to what He would have us to do on a moment by moment basis. This is very difficult sometimes, but so worth it. When we do the hard stuff God expects of us like going the extra mile in love and kindness, we can celebrate and be glad because GREAT is our reward from Him.

“WHY ARE YOU HERE???”

I asked a wonderful lady who came to visit me at our office yesterday. She replied, “I want to learn how to hear from God.” Oh my goodness, that made the God maniac here super happy and excited to tell her all about my appointments (alone times) with God reading a variety of spiritual books asking God what specifically He wants to say to me. Prayer is you talking to God, but meditation is God talking to you! These meetings with Him, help me to discern His important voice, so that when I’m back out in the world, I know what it is God would have me to do or say on a moment by moment basis. Don’t play with your relationship with God!

I bragged to this person how He is helping me so much in every aspect of my life, especially relationships and dealing with people – so crucial to living your best life! We need other people! Like my wonderful husband. He can go from one moment being my gift from God to the next moment being my CROSS that I must lovingly and joyfully continue carrying from Jesus for God. LOL!

However, God has been patiently teaching me FLEXIBILITY depending on each person and situation I’m dealing with. From learning God’s voice during the alone times, I can pretty much tell where He would have me to go. Sometimes that means being meek, humble, gentle, loving, merciful, light, joyful, playful and other times He’s calling me to be tough, strong, brave, persistent, courageous, fearless, unflinching, and determined.

So, all day, I listen to Him. When challenges arise, that means even more intense conversations with God because I need His wisdom to guide me through safely. He has been the best Advisor ever. He’ll say to me, “Do this!” “Talk to this person!” “Go here!” I’m talking about specific instructions through my Spirit!

Moreover, before situations do become major challenges, I’m learning to go to Him to set the agenda for every day, “God, what is the work of today, please?” Today, it was running for 5 miles up and down our stairs for about two hours. Believe it or not, this is God’s way of helping me become the Nikki He would have me to be in the world. With every run, I’m gaining endurance, strength, joy, peace, mental clarity, a sense of accomplishment (I did it!), satisfaction and the fortitude to take on whatever life brings my way. I love it! Warrior Nikki, baby!

So as I work on becoming a better me and getting closer to God, I pray I inspire you to do the same. Let’s up our God game!!! When will your alone times with Him take place?

GOD TALKS TO ME THROUGH MUSIC (REPOST)

It all started during my “wilderness experience” in the U.S. where I knew without a doubt it was Him communicating with me. I had to go on a long drive and Bruno Mars’ song, ‘That’s What I Like’ played on the radio. I instantly downloaded it and it became me and God’s song (Our song!) that we sang to each other. I’ll never forget a day I was feeling down and every radio station I turned to was playing this very song, and I knew it was God trying to cheer me up – it worked!

And on another long drive, on a beautiful Sunday with my momma, another song played, ‘Starving’ by Hailee Steinfeld, and again I knew it was an important message from God:

“I didn’t know that I was starving ’til I tasted you _ 
Don’t need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo”_

There I was feeling really like I was starving for love, feeling neglected, like everyone was happy I was gone from Nigeria, including my hubby and kids (all my crazy thoughts), and God used this song to remind me of all the love He has for me – I didn’t need no butterflies when He was giving me the whole zoo. I came back from my trip alone as God’s girl! Other humans only have scraps of love to offer us! We’ve all probably been looking for love in all the wrong places! I’m now so filled with God’s love that NO OTHER HUMAN LOVE IS REQUIRED. I now have love in excess that I’m spreading everywhere I go! Heehaw!

And I’ve written so much about Pitbull’s song Option that God brilliantly said:

“…you know, you know we got a strong thing _ 
So stop thinking ’bout the wrong things”_

Since then, I’ve been beating my mind with a stick, focused on important, not trivial matters and all my blessings, which brings me to the next song, ‘Blessings’ by Lecrae. One line did the trick:

“Baby, I’m too busy countin’ all these blessings”

Perfect reminder for crazy lady! I was finding the worst things to think about, but now,

“Baby I’m too busy countin’ all these blessings”

Then on Saturday, it was the song ‘Who am I’ by Beenie Man that got me thinking. Really, Who am I? And this Monday, reading John Joseph’s book, ‘Meat is for Pussies,’ he surprisingly had this to say:

“As you start to appreciate the value of your spirit, you become more focused on your mission in life. You become less neurotic and understand that anything good takes time. That’s why the first teaching in yoga is to meditate on the phrase “Aham Brahmasmi,” which means “I am spirit.” Doing so offers a fresh perspective on life.”

And our lives should reflect this first and foremost. We’re not about how we look or about what others think of us, what car we drive, or how much money we have; It’s KNOWING we have God’s spirit dwelling in us and that He is with us in every moment.

Like I told someone today, our work for God is to be the wives, mothers, and people He would have us to be – loving, faithful, enduring, forgiving, going the extra mile and extremely patient. Not always easy, but we’re doing it for God.
