I STILL CAN’T GET OVER MY GOD WINK FROM YESTERDAY!
Two of my fav messengers from Him, Joel Osteen and Devon Franklin, both had the same message for me within hours of each other:
Joel: But God didn’t BRING YOU THIS FAR TO LEAVE YOU.
Devon: …let that be confirmation to you that God’s not going to BRING YOU THIS FAR TO LEAVE YOU.
Right at that precise moment of reading the confirmation from Joel Osteen, I went running to God in an anxious moment, saying, ‘God, I need to hear from You!’ He lovingly showed up as if asking, ‘Nik, what’s the problem here? I will never leave you or forsake you!’
I know we’re so used to human love that disappoints, but God doesn’t! Even the bad that happens, He uses for our good! I loved a comment from a Facebook friend telling me how my running is working for me. I told her it was all the drama in my life that got me running every day with God, reminded that I’m not going through life alone – MY GOD IS WITH ME! So, in the big picture, the drama turned out to be so good, it got me wrapped up in God’s arms where I now know that I’m His girl and crucially that I need Him in every moment.
Don’t miss out! Know that we have God with us on a moment by moment basis for His wsdom, guidance, approval, love, acceptance. That no matter the situation we find ourselves in, we can look to God for His help.
That’s what I’m teaching my daughters lately! They are the ones taking care of my 88-year-old mom in the US while I’m with hubs and our sons in Nigeria. I’m using the experience as relationship training because good relationships are what make life beautiful. I’m teaching them how to go to God and use His tact, personality, and charm to win over their grandma. When my mom complained recently that the girls had done something wrong, Julie took my advice and calmly responded, “We’re so sorry. Ember (her sister), how could we have done such a thing? Grandma, it will never happen again!’ Instead of getting upset at my mom’s harsh criticism, my daughters handled the situation from a God perspective – kindly, wisely, and lovingly! Way to go, my girls! I’m so thrilled they get to be around my mom to learn all the values she has instilled in me, like KINDNESS and going the extra mile.
I loved Ember calling me recently and saying, “Mom, I got you!” And I want these posts to be all of our reminders that God has all of us. Every moment, let’s look to Him and respond to every situation the way Julie did with lots of God’s wisdom, tact, love, and charm! Even the tough challenges that had me running to Him! No shame in my game – God, I need You in every moment!
Yesterday was a Nigerian holiday, and I asked our assistant, Fatimah, to help us with a message to our customers. When I read it, though, I immediately said, “I don’t like!” (Maybe this is why Julie said I could be a little bit softer!) Just so happen that her daughter came to work with us while she is waiting for college classes here to begin again, and I asked her to come up with something better. She met me like less than 15 minutes with the most beautiful messages. I got goosebumps all over! I was so impressed that I told her she should go home and enjoy the holiday! Fatimah sent me a text asking if everything was OK, like why I sent her daughter home. I then asked her to come and talk to me in person.
I told her how proud I was of her to have raised such a fantastic daughter who was capable of handling that assignment so impressively. I then took the time to tell her that I know things are not the way we would like right now at our business, given that I was away for so long and some people have disappointed us, which we didn’t expect, but that God will turn things around and restore what we’ve lost and pay us back even more.
Fast forward 20 minutes later, I go to read Joel Osteen’s email, and he astonishingly confirmed what I said:
“Your situation may not look good. You may be facing something at your business, in a relationship, or have a health issue that you don’t think could ever work out. But God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. He can turn things around, bring a breakthrough, restore your health and happiness, and cause your business to take off. Rise up in faith and say, “God, I’m not going to give up. I’m believing to see glorious things, miracles again, the dream come to pass, the problem resolved. I know that You always finish what You start.”
I immediately sent the message to Fati, feeling instantly reminded that God is really with us!
Then, this morning waking up at around 4:30, I went to our family’s website to have an appointment with God before beginning some complicated work. I saw I had 17 Facebook notifications, so I went to page 17 of our webpage, and I read this beautiful prayer from Devon Franklin from July:
“So, I pray, Dear Lord, that you will send the help, you will send the clarity (EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED BEFORE TACKLING THAT WORK!). You will meet the need as only you can do it. If you can feel God’s Presence through what I am saying, let that be confirmation to you that God’s not going to bring you this far to leave you. He will not take you to this moment and drop you.”
Fast forward to after I finished that work and sending out a crucial email, with my heart pounding, hoping I did it correctly, I ran to God for an appointment with Him. Of all places, I go to look up Fatimah’s WhatsApp to reread the message from Joel Osteen, and incredibly realize that both Devon and Joel said the same thing:
Joel: But God didn’t BRING YOU THIS FAR TO LEAVE YOU.
Devon: …let that be confirmation to you that God’s not going to BRING YOU THIS FAR TO LEAVE YOU.
That lined up too perfectly to be some ordinary coincident! Exact words!!! That was God revealing His invisible Presence with your girl over here in one of her anxious moments. Phew! Like He was saying, ‘Relax, Nik, I got you!’ The sweet life with God continues, despite the challenges that come our way! He has your back too!!! His favor is in the spiritual realm on our behalf, baby! Wink! Wink!

“HOW CLOSE DO YOU WANT TO GET TO GOD?!?”
Someone asked me yesterday! My reply was, “As close as possible!!!” Let me tell ya, the closer you get to God, the SWEETER life gets! For example, after only a few hours on Saturday with a friend, I left her house a better wife, a better mother, and a better person. We have known each other for TEN YEARS now, and she has had such a positive influence on me. She has been my shining example of an excellent person who has taught me such values of kindness, loyalty, faithfulness, leaving the past in the past, staying calm, and I can go on and on!
But guess who was behind the scenes nudging me to get close to her: GOD! I had recently relocated with the kids to Nigeria to be with hubby, who had come ahead of us. After saying to hm so many times that I didn’t want any friends, that he and the kids were enough, I felt God in my spirit nudging me to call her one day to ask if she wanted to do the BIGGEST LOSER diet competition with me. I remember walking up and down in my room before making that call. But I felt God saying, ‘CALL HER!!!’ And I’m thanking Him because that was one of the best telephone calls I’ve ever made. God, I’m incredibly grateful!
We’ve travelled all over the world together, including Disney World, where I was such a nerd telling her I wish we could be friends forever. I still mean it! It’s a friendship orchestrated by God Himself! Every moment with her has been sacred. A conversation recently, she encouraged me to give my husband the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t have to believe everything the crazy lady in my head is telling me. Sometimes I can also pretend I don’t see what I see or hear what I hear. LOVE SETS FREE. Meaning I can leave my hubby to live his life and allow God to do what He wants with him, without me nagging him to be who I want him to be. To just love hubs as he is, for both his strengths and weaknesses. To just show up in every moment as my BEST self for God’s glory. This goes for ALL our significant relationships, by the way!
DON’T MISS OUT ON THE BEST RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, THOUGH! Say this prayer with me: ‘God, I want an even closer walk with You! Amen.’ As you draw close to Him, I promise, you will start feeling exactly what He would have you to do on a moment by moment basis! Like Him saying to me in my spirit that day, ‘CALL HERE!!!’ God is quite talkative! He knows the people we need in our lives AND the people we need out! Wink! Wink!

“FORGET WORST YEAR; THIS WILL BE MY BEST YEAR EVER!!!”
That was me to my fierce daughter, Ember, who called me a little while ago. She said to me a few months ago that 2020 was looking like my worst year, and that was just the reality check I needed to turn things around. I can’t let my daughters see their momma down! No way! I’ve switched the script, and I’m making this year my best ever as I get closer and closer to God!
I loved a Tumblr post:
“My dear friend, when grief presses you to the dust, worship there.” – Spurgeon
That’s me all the way! I’m worshiping and thanking God no matter where I am or what comes my way. I’ve made Him my Life Partner, and I know there is never a single moment that His invisible Presence is not with me. Like my God wink the other night when our manager called me from the US and said, “in the house” exactly the same time as a cartoon show my kids were watching showed in very big writing across the screen, “IN DA HOUSE.” It was another one of my God winks where out of the blue, everything lined up too perfectly to be some ordinary coincident. It was God revealing His invisible Presence with me. Nik, I’m with you always!
And that’s the sweetness I’m finding from God. That no matter where I am, US or Nigeria, He finds a way to show me His deep love and intimacy with everything going on with me. For that manager to say that precisely as those words appeared up on the screen was all God!
This gives me the CONFIDENCE TO TACKLE PROBLEMS BRAVELY. Late last night before sleeping, he said through my meditation book, Jesus Calling, “WATCH TO SEE WHAT I WILL DO.” So all the problems that I’m up against right now, this was His way to remind me that I don’t have to figure out the next ten steps alone. I could trust that as I show up as my best, excellent, most loving, forgiving, courageous self, doing what He would have me to do, He will handle the rest. I felt Him giving me a nudge through my spirit of how to tackle something, and once again, I know I’m not that smart. It’s all God! MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD.

GET GOD INVOLVED IN EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE!!!
I want us making Him our life Partner where we’re going to him in the 1,000 choices we make every day!!! Like yesterday, our manager and I needed to decide on a customer he spent two days working a deal on. I asked him to call my husband for his input, but he was busy. I then said, “One thing I noticed about my hubs is that he is very instinctual. He pays attention to his gut.” I gave him an example of when my husband met me. After knowing me for only one day, he got on his knees and prayed, “God, thank You for helping me to find my wife.” That was nineteen years ago, and we’re even more committed and loyal to each other than ever. God has exceeded our expectations!
So, that one decision was my husband paying attention to his gut/intuition/instincts/Holy Spirit within him. It has led our lives on a beautiful path. And since then, I’ve noticed that he is highly instinctual in following his gut feelings. He would make some decisions that I completely don’t understand, but in the end, I see where it would turn out to be so wise.
But back to that decision at the office. Since we were unable to get my husband’s advice, I said let’s do what I see him do -follow his gut. When we thought about it that way, we both were uneasy about the direction we thought about going, and that was our cue from God – DON’T DO THAT. God always answers with a yes, no doubts. Doubts mean DON’T from God.
I want us to go to God in every decision! When we feel uneasy, doubtful, hesitant about something, let’s rethink and ask God again what He would have us to do. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING. Excitement, enthusiasm, good vibes are God saying yes, go this way. And that’s what we did; we went with the decision that brought us peace.
Don’t forget about your appointments with God, where you learn His personality, character, and the person He is calling us to be. Like love, faithfulness and loyalty are significant to God. He reminded me recently that even if me and hubs go through the darkest nights, we can still bounce back and stay hopeful that our best days are STILL ahead of us. Heehaw!
