That was my son Joshie this week.
He’s hurt, y’all. The uncle who once told me, “Neeks, call me 100 times a day if you need me,” isn’t answering the phone now.
But that’s life, my peeps. People leave.
God promises He never will. “I will never leave you or forsake you.” He is with us ALWAYS.
And I’m still grateful for that brother. Nothing can take my love away from him.
In one of my lowest moments, he gave me the best advice I’ve ever heard:
“Neeks, all I can tell you: get closer to God. Make God your top priority.”
Now your girl is on a mission.
To bring the entire world closer to God.
Starting every day with a God Morning Routine.
This morning’s YouTube prayer via Peace & Prayer Daily @PeacePrayerDaily said it best:
“Have you ever wondered what would happen if the very first voice you listen to each morning was voice God? Before the news, before social media, before the worries of the day, before the pressures of work and family, what if you began your day in the presence of the one who created heaven and earth? Today, on this beautiful Friday morning, God is extending an invitation. He is calling his children to rise early, seek his face, and place him at the center of everything. The world tells us to start our day with our plans, our schedule, and our ambitions. But God’s word teaches us something greater. When we put God first, he orders our steps. When we seek him first, he provides what we need. When we trust him first, he fights battles we cannot fight ourselves.
Many people wake up burdened with fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and discouragement. They wonder how they will make it through another day. Yet, the Bible reminds us that every morning is a gift from God, filled with fresh mercy, new grace, and renewed strength. The God who sustained you yesterday is the same God who walks beside you today. Perhaps you came here carrying heavy burdens. Perhaps you need healing in your body, peace in your mind, restoration in your family, or direction for your future. The good news is that God already knows your need. Before you spoke a word, he knew your situation. Before the sun rose this morning, he was already working on your behalf. As we gather around God’s word today, let us open our hearts and discover what happens when we truly start our day with God. Because when God becomes your first priority, his presence changes everything. When we seek God first, we are making a declaration that he is more important than our problems, our fears, our schedules, and our desires. We are acknowledging that our greatest need is not more money, more influence, or more opportunities. Our greatest need is more of God.
The world constantly competes for our attention. From the moment we wake up, countless voices demand our focus. The pressures of life tell us to worry. The challenges of the day tell us to fear. The uncertainty of tomorrow tells us to doubt. Yet God calls us to begin our day differently. He calls us to come into his presence and remember who he is. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Notice that Jesus did not say, “Seek God after everything else is taken care of.” He did not say seek God when it is convenient. He said seek first the kingdom of God. There is power in putting God first. There is blessing in putting God first. There is protection in putting God first. When a person starts the day with God, their perspective begins to change. Problems that once seemed overwhelming are placed into the hands of an all powerful God.”
Take your relationship with God seriously.
Wake up earlier if you must.
But develop a God Morning Routine where you seek God first.

The META God Morning Routine Breakdown*
For you, for Joshie, for the teen who feels ghosted, stressed, or just tired
1. The Real Talk from the Blog
What happened: Joshie got hurt because Uncle Kevin ghosted. People do that sometimes.
The truth: “People leave, but God promises never to leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
The advice that changed everything: “Neeks, get closer to God. Make God your top priority.”
Translation for teens/adults:
When people let you down, that hurt is real. But God doesn’t ghost. He’s the friend who’s always in your corner, even before you wake up.
2. The Big Idea from the Prayer
No edits, just the main points in plain English:
The world tells us to check our phone first thing in the morning. God says, “Seek Me first” – Matthew 6:33. That means God comes before notifications, before news, before the stress of the day starts.
The world says to worry about today and try to figure it all out yourself. God says, “I order your steps.” When we give Him our to-do list first, He leads us. The world says to handle everything on your own strength. God says, “Cast your cares on Me.” You don’t have to carry it alone.
The world tells you to fear the unknown and what could go wrong. God says, “I have overcome the world” – John 16:33. That means the battle is already won when you’re with Him.
The prayer summed it up best: “When God becomes your first priority, his presence changes everything.”
3. How to Actually DO a God Morning Routine
5 minutes to 20 minutes. Your choice. No guilt.
The 3-Step “Nik Playbook” Version:
Step 1: WAKE > PHONE – 30 seconds
Before news, TikTok, texts. Say: “Good morning, God. You’re first today.”
That’s it. You just put Him first.
Step 2: LISTEN > 1 VERSE or 1 PRAYER – 3 minutes
Play a short prayer like the one from @PeacePrayerDaily. Or read 1 verse.
June 12 verse: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Teen check: That means bad stuff will happen, but you don’t have to panic. He’s got it.
Step 3: TALK > 1 MINUTE – 1 minute
Tell God 3 things:
1. “Thanks for today”
2. “Help me with __” – school, family, anxiety, whatever
3. “Use me today”_
Bonus: WEBSITE ANCHOR
Like you said: “I love starting my day by going to http://werollwithgod.com”
Make it your homepage. 5 seconds to remember whose you are.
4. What Changes When You Do It?
The prayer said it, so let’s make it simple:
1. Fear → Faith: You’re not walking into the day alone
2. Anxiety → Peace: Your problems aren’t bigger than God
3. Confusion → Clarity: You get direction before drama hits
4. Weakness → Strength: You’re running on His power, not just coffee
For Joshie and any teen feeling ghosted:
People might not answer. God always does. Start the day with Him, and you walk different. You’ve got a cheerful disposition, and “others will be cheerful too.”

Step 3: Today’s Prayer + Anchor Verses
For when people ghost, but God never does
Father,
Thank You for mornings. Thank You that before my phone buzzes, before the world gets loud, You’re already here.
For every Joshie who’s hurting because someone ghosted him – remind us that people leave, but You never do. You are with us ALWAYS.
For every “Neeks” in a low moment – thank You for the wisdom to “get closer to God, make God my top priority.” Help us live it.
Today I choose Your voice first. Before news, before social media, before the worries. Seek You first.
Order my steps. Fight the battles I can’t fight. Turn my fear into faith, my anxiety into peace, my confusion into clarity, my weakness into strength.
Use me at work, at school, at home to have a cheerful disposition so others can be cheerful too. Because You have overcome the world.
I’m Yours first today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
