That’s not only the song God sings to me; it’s how He makes me feel. Like this morning, right before running to my God tree, I looked at a brown Coach New York bag my brother, Jason, gave me. I thought back to another brown Coach New York bag given to me by a close friend in Nigeria. She went to visit London, and of all things there, she brought me back another brown Coach New York bag with a beautiful purse inside. That was years ago when Ember and I had our eyes on the prize of her attending university in New York despite my husband constantly telling us, “Ember is not going to university in New York!” Guys, I took that brown bag from my friend as more important than the bag inside, feeling this was a special glimmer from God that He was with us in this battle for Ember to go to New York. I said to Ember, “We’re going to do what I always write about in my posts, “Do the best of your abilities, then leave the rest with God.” Long story short, “God came through with hubby finally giving his blessings for her to go!
Fast forward thirty minutes or so later, after seeing Jason’s brown Coach bag and thinking of that story, I go for my run. Because I had an appointment, I didn’t make it to my God tree, so at 51 minutes past the hour, I stopped at another random tree and went to page 51 of our family’s website, and of all stories to show up, this one did:
“OUR EYES ARE ON THE PRIZE, BABY GIRL!”
I just sent this in a text to my daughter, Ember, along with a pic of a bag I now cherish with “New York” printed on it! I’m taking it as a special God wink at my daughters and me. They want to go to university there, and I want to meet with a book agent to help me spread this GREAT news that God is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives, it’s just for us to learn His voice and to be obedient to Him.”
No way that story showing up was some random coincidence minutes after I thought of that story! It was God Himself revealing a glimmer of His invisible Presence with me. He timed precisely when I needed to stop at that tree! See the love of God I don’t want you guys to miss out on. For Him to orchestrate for me to see that bag and minutes later that story out of 146 web pages was all Him showing me His deep, deep love for me and my family.
Both of our daughters are now attending university in New! I’m giving God all the glory and praise for working in the spiritual realm on our behalf to see that happen! We may not see a way and how everything will work out, but God does. It’s just for us to keep showing up in every moment, giving our utmost best, being obedient to God, and trusting God to do His part behind the scenes. Wink! Wink!
Everything is between us and God! Don’t mind what anyone else is doing! It’s just for us to say, God, what is your perspective on this circumstance? This relationship? This decision? And how can I enter into it to glorify you? I promise, you, this is the way to the best life with God. Yes, He does ask us to do some hard things, to sacrifice and suffer through some challenges, but they’re so worth it. People may disappoint us, but God doesn’t. So we must keep our eyes fixed on God in every moment and learn His voice through alone times seeking Him so we know what He would have us to do on a moment-by-moment basis.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…” – Epesaians 3:20
We can do all things with God who strengthens us! Amen!
