My husband, that is! LOL! I told you guys that I’m here in Florida trying to get our business on track, away from the shadow of my husband, who I’m used to running the show for us and taking charge of tough situations. But God has called me on a new path, out on a limb without hubs. And let me tell ya, it’s been quite tricky, and sometimes your girl here gets hugely overwhelmed.
Like I did yesterday. So, I called hubs in Nigeria, just looking to him for a little strength and encouragement, but he was busy with an urgent call and couldn’t talk. It turns out, that was the BEST THING because I sat down in my bathroom, on my Minnie Mouse stool, and I poured my heart out to God.
‘God, what is going on with me today?’ I ended up reading my meditation book, Jesus Calling, and when three of the verses I shared in yesterday’s post showed up in the exact order as I had placed them, I KNEW without any doubt this was God’s sweet way of saying that HE WAS WITH ME – no coincidence! Hubby was not available, but God was! I jumped up from that stool, happy and confident again, reminded that I’m not handling the challenges alone – PAPA GOD IS WITH ME. Greater is He than anything we will ever face. Amen!
And the great news I have is that He is also available to you! He is a 24/7 God, and I want us rolling with Him in every moment of our lives, holding on to His hands super tight, inviting Him to be our Partner and Guide. The reason why I got so overwhelmed was that I had lost FOCUS. Instead of thinking thoughts of FAITH, HOPE, and CONFIDENCE in God, I was thinking worst-case scenarios, anxious about the future. But that time with God reminded me that He was already in the future waiting to help me out with any problem that could come up like He has done so many times in the past.
I can, therefore, think GREAT thoughts of God and my life with Him. He hasn’t let me down before, and He’s not about to start now. Even the bad stuff that happens, He uses them for my good. Like one year ago, a negative situation led to my brother, Kevin, sending me a voice note saying I should FOCUS on essential areas of my life and not get distracted. One year later, that FOCUS has paid off. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. I might have fallen a million times in the process, but I’ve risen back up stronger with God. Just like I did yesterday. Pray about anything you need His help with – loneliness, relationships, addictions, depression, anxiety, financial troubles, or anything that’s upsetting you. He’s available. Then listen as He directs you in your spirit as to what He would have you to do. Kk?

I DON’T BELIEVE THIS!!
My husband sent me this WhatsApp message this morning that I didn’t agree with: “For people in business, 2020 is really just a year for staying alive. Don’t even talk about your dreams or plans.” I responded: “We’re rolling with God, boo, and anything is possible with Him!” These are the verses I’m sticking with:
“Trust the LORD with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the LORD in all you do, and he will give you success.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
Like my little ten-year-old son, Joshie explained, we have three voices in our head: our voice, God’s voice, and doubt. I want us all tapping into God’s voice because He knows EVERYTHING. He has guidance to help us in every aspect of our lives. I love this post I came across, minutes after sending that text to my husband:
“Many of our thoughts leave out the Holy Spirit and thus limits our success. If you always put God in the equation, everything becomes possible. To walk in the Spirit, you must always be attentive to what He is saying at all times.”
That’s why I’m so excited that my little son is learning God’s voice (The Holy Spirit). Heehaw! Following God’s leading is the way to a highly successful life. I still can’t get over how I was stuck with a big problem on Saturday, and I woke up to one thought from God: ‘Do this! I did exactly that, and ended up resolving the issue with a very knowledgeable gentleman. Thanks, God!
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” – John 10:27
“The LORD says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you.” – Psalm 32:8
As you practice listening to God, you begin to know His thoughts versus other thoughts. Like on Saturday, I knew it was a God thought, with His solution magically popping to my mind. He has helped me so often in the past, that I know His thoughts quite well now from my own, and I’ve wisely learned to pay attention.
“If you go he wrong way—to the right or to the left—you will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the right way. You should go this way.” – Isaiah 30:21
I know it’s a rough time for everyone now, and we need God’s guidance more than ever. Don’t forget your alone times/appointments with Him where we learn to hear His voice even clearer for when we go back out into this hectic, scary and confusing world right now. I constantly give Him my hand to hold, while I blindly follow where He leads.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” – Jeremiah 17:7
Amen!

A GOD WINK WITH MY MOMMA
I hung out with her for a little bit last night, and God LOVINGLY showed up to reveal His invisible Presence. I had just shared my YouTube video of the day, entitled, ‘God Exceeds My Expectations,’ about how He gives far more than what we can ever expect or imagine. I asked her to pick a number from my book to read to her between 1 to 366. She picked number 300, and it amazingly said this:
“God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Wink! Wink!
That’s certainly my testimony! God blows me away with His love. MY ENTIRE LIFE IS A MAGNIFICENT GIFT FROM HIM, including this momma! Her advice and the way she lived have tremendously influenced me.
She dragged us so often to work with her, where she taught us about going the extra mile. We would always hear, “If you’re a street cleaner, be the best street cleaner there is.” And that advice worked!
When it was my time to work, I did the same. I always wanted to impress my supervisors. I worked through lunch breaks, and I stayed late, even going in on weekends. That paid off when my boss came to my desk one day and said he wanted me to attend the same university his son attended in New York. This was after my mom said she couldn’t afford for me to finish college, and I had to get a job.
But here is how God EXCEEDS and gives us far more than we can ask or imagine. I ended up leaving the Bahamas, graduated from that university in New York, and then came back to the Bahamas. I soon after that, though, got married to my husband and ended up working with him as his business’ finance manager. Hubby was the buyer of cars, and I would help customers get loans to pay for them. That education that I got in New York, along with all my previous work experiences, fit in EXTREMELY perfectly with my husband’s already existing business.
A little bit too perfectly, that I KNOW, it was all God HIMSELF aligning everything for us, including our meeting. That’s why I can confidently say, “God’s plans for us are REAL good!” Even my sister in law, being a witness to our lives together, said to me the other day, “You have been my brother’s gift from God.” But her brother has been God’s gift to me. We make a great team! When one is weak, the other is the strong one and vice versa and we’ve been keeping each other up for almost 19 years now. I love our life with our four beautiful, wonderful, and smart kids. If you’re a street cleaner, be the best street cleaner there is – GOD IS OUR BOSS!!!
God, YOU HAVE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!! May we all live full lives honoring You in everything we do. Thank You for being my Guide and Partner. Amen!
No shame in my game! Like the other day, I’m sitting on this Minnie Mouse stool in my bedroom, all frustrated, upset, and sad about a situation that had come up. It’s my place to go and have conversations with God. I was sincerely praying and asking God for His direction, when, out of the blue, I got a text message from a friend in the Bahamas of Devon Franklin saying a prayer:
“Heavenly Father, we’re praying right now for anyone listening to (or reading) this prayer. There is so much confusion going on right now. There is so much worry. So much anxiety. So much uncertainty. And I’m praying right now that if you are listening to this prayer, that you will know that this prayer is for you.
There are so many people who are trying to figure out, ‘What are we supposed to do?’ …There are so many unanswered questions…You may be losing hope…You may be throwing your hands up. But I pray right now, as you throw your hands up, that you will begin to put your hands together. PRAYER DOES CHANGE THINGS.
I pray, Dear Lord, that you will provide clarity on what to do. If you’re listening to this prayer, MAY I SUBMIT FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION THAT THIS IS CONFIRMATION THAT GOD HEARS YOU. And if God has allowed you to hear this prayer, its because He has every intent to help you. So, I pray, Dear Lord, that you will send the help, you will send the clarity. You will meet the need as only you can do it. If you can feel God’s Presence through what I am saying, let that be confirmation to you that God’s not going to bring you this far to leave you. He will not take you to this moment and drop you. Have the faith to know that God is going to carry you everywhere He wants you to be…”
Wow! I couldn’t believe it! There I was praying for CLARITY, and the title of the prayer was ‘Praying for CLARITY.’ I knew this was no coincidence, but like Devon said, it was confirmation that God was not going to bring me this far and leave me. That HE was in the midst of this troublesome situation with me. Devon and I were even wearing the same shirts as proof, black, buttoned all the way to the top, polo shirts. (Wink! Wink!)
After feeling so down and depressed and canceling on the girls about going somewhere with them, I jumped up, getting my mojo back, knowing God was with me, and headed out to meet them.
If you’re reading this, know that this is confirmation for you, too, that God is in whatever situation you may be facing. Look to Him, and He will give you the guidance and clarity as to what He would have you to do. Amen. I’m blindly following Him one step at a time wherever He leads me KNOWING He has nothing but the best plans for my life. That’s FAITH, baby!
“GOD, THANK YOU THAT YOU DIDN’T GIVE ME MY PLANS FOR THIS YEAR…”
You gave me Your plans. And Your plans far exceed my plans.” That’s the prayer I’m stealing from Devon Franklin. This year that seemed as if it was my worst year ever is turning into my best year where I’m feeling so much closer to God. Even my most terrible days are turned into sweet days when He reveals His invisble Presence with me. And, tell me, what is there to be sad or upset about when the Creator of the entire universe is showing you such love and attention?
Yesterday, I went a little crazy in a video playing a clip of Justin Bieber singing his song, ‘Favorite Girl,’ feeling God is singing the lyrics to me:
“My prized possession
One and only…
My favorite girl, my favorite girl
Promise I’ll play no games
Treat you no other way than you deserve
‘Cause you’re the girl of my dreams’
The cool part is that He gave me this job to tell you that you are His fav, too, the star of His show, baby. He dreamt us up Himself. Our skin color. Our eye color. Our likes and dislikes. Our voice. Our personality. Our hair texture. Our gifts and talents. Everything about us, all dreamt up by Him, and He loves us more than we can ever imagine.
My prayer is that in 2020 we all get closer to Him, KNOWING His love for us no matter where we are, even if we’re at ground zero. I feel that if I take one step forward, I then take ten backward, but that’s OK because every setback is an opportunity for an even stronger comeback – I learn vital lessons that He would have me to learn. My help comes from the Lord!
I feel like so many areas are off track, but I ain’t worried ‘bout nothing – God got me, messed up life and all. And that’s where I want you, knowing He will help you too, no matter the struggles you are facing.
My new strategy for living my best life with Him is to give Him all the heavier end of things, while I carry the lighter end, knowing He is in total control of everything and everyone (Wink! Wink!). I don’t have to figure out the next ten steps. I just have to show up every day as my best, most excellent, loving self, shining bright for God, as He directs me on the battles I need to fight and the ones I should leave with Him.
Are you learning God’s voice for His guidance and direction? Start paying attention to Him in your spirit. If something feels good, you’re excited about it, if it’s a big “YES!!!’ that’s God saying, ‘Yes, this is the way.’ However, feelings of doubt, stress or anxiety are His way of saying, ‘Hold up. Let’s hold off/rethink this.’ In the 1,000 decisions we make every day, I want us to go to God first!
