That was my question to God this morning after hearing about this awful thing someone did yesterday. And, believe it or not, He answered me. I was driving back from an early morning ride to see one of my fav people, and this song played as if God was speaking directly to me:
“You’re not alone No, no, no, no I know this is gonna hurt your heart again And this I know Yes, yes, yes You can count on Me I’ll be there as your Friend To give it all you got Don’t cry cause it’s over now Don’t sigh, things are better now I will be there to give you everything you need You can always count on Me
And give it chance I’LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU” – Give it a Chance, Sanchez
Got that? No matter what evil other humans do to us we can count on God to make it up to us. He is excellent at that! I’m telling you, in every aspect of my life He gives me so much more than I can ever ask or imagine! That’s why I don’t get bitter, I get BETTER. I surrender everyone over to God sticking with my fav poem by Mother Teresa:
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
I want us having UNSWERVING (CONSTANT AND UNCHANGING) LOYALTY to God and to all our significant relationships KNOWING our reward is with God. He gives us MORE than we can ever ask for or imagine!
I said to someone yesterday. A small little mistake has created a severe problem for them. “You must slow down and involve God in everything you do,” I advised.
And that’s my message for us all today! Don’t rush! Get God involved in the 1,000 decisions you make every day by listening to Him in your spirit. Like a big decision I made yesterday. I had two options. The one I went with was the one that gave me peace when I thought about it. The other option made me anxious, stressed, and there was no peace. So, all day long, I go to God about every move I make. I do my best with what I feel He would have me to do by following those feelings of peace, then I leave the rest to Him.
I’m acquiring the beautiful habit of always being with God, and I’m enjoying Him. Yesterday, we had a situation with a vehicle that was swerving to the right when you drive it. After test driving it for myself, we called a shop to take it to for repairs. Right after talking to the shop, another issue came up with a customer who purchased a vehicle from us last week and the bank that’s financing her. I thought, ‘God, what is this?’ and I rushed to read my meditation book to hear from Him. This verse showed up:
“Let us hold unswervingly (WINK! WINK!) to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23
Did you catch that God wink? The vehicle was SWERVING, and the verse said let us hold UNSWERVINGLY (meaning not changing or becoming weaker; steady or constant) to the hope we profess. Call me crazy, but that was God’s way of having some fun with me and His way of letting me know everything would be fine with that customer and the bank. And it was. Our God is faithful!
It was also His way of reminding me that He is in the battles with us. He is in the storms with us. He is in the fires with us. It’s just for us to keep calm and follow His lead by slowing down and getting Him involved in every decision we make by going with the choices that bring us peace, happiness, or excitement when we think about them. The rest of the battle then belongs to the Lord. Doubt, stress, or anxiety means don’t do that!!! Kk?!?
That was my daughter, Ember, to me the other day. Honestly, it was just the wakeup call I needed, ‘Yes, Ms. Nikki, why are you still in bed?’ I immediately jumped up, threw on my exercise clothes, and went for a run with God to hash out what was on my mind. He is my psychiatrist! The world’s best one, by the way! And He loves it when we come to Him!
I jogged over to my 47 trees and high fived the last one saying to God, “WE’RE TOGETHER.” Every day that message is sinking in more and more. That I can go through my entire life KNOWING God and I are TOGETHER no matter what comes my way. The hurts will come, but I can shake them off and keep my eyes fixed on God, who gives me more than I can ever ask or imagine. The challenges will come, but His wisdom, direction, and strength are available to get me through anything. I can, therefore, go through life at peace and full f joy KNOWING I have the Creator of the entire universe ALWAYS with me. Heehaw!
Yesterday, He sang to me through Ja Rule’s song:
“Girl, it feel like You and I been mourning together Inseparable, we chose pain over pleasure For that you’ll forever be a, part of Me Mind, body and soul ain’t no I in We (baby) When you cry who wipes your tears When you scared, who’s telling you there’s nothin’ to fear Girl, I’ll always be there When you need a shoulder to lean on Never hesitate knowing you can call on, your soul-mate”
God, enough mourning together! It’s the world against You and I as I take my place on Your heart, responding to every moment of my life from that perspective, giving you the front row seat as my audience. I will strive to be the wife, mother, and person you are calling me to be in every quarter-second, as I enjoy my life with You, sucking up Your love and approval. Ain’t no I in WE! Wink! Wink!
Every day I run to the end of those 47 trees God had lined up for me in celebration of my 47th birthday, and I give that last tree a high five and say, ‘GOD, WE’RE TOGETHER. WE’RE TOGETHER. WE’RE TOGETHER.’
Like yesterday, that meant parking somewhere before getting to work and having an appointment with Him. Again, no shame in my game!!! I was feeling hurt, disappointed, and frustrated, and God loves me so much because I felt Him saying to me in my spirit to read the very last day in my own book, and it was the perfect message:
“Can you imagine getting to a place where you do not feel anger, insulted, offended, or annoyed by anyone for what you believe is unfair treatment by them and having such feelings only against yourself? Wow, what a wonderful life that would be, but is that even possible humanly speaking?!?”
Well, God is truly trying to get me there, and I want to challenge you to get there with me. We’re to love others, stop judging them. Everyone is on their own path with God.
We must be professional ignorers, otherwise, we will go through our lives always offended, insulted, and frustrated. When others disappoint us, we have to shake off the hurts and disappointments immediately and keep walking humbly with God, extending grace (pardoning without punishment), forgiving endlessly, becoming better instead of bitter and loving extravagantly.” – Keep Calm, You’re Rolling With God
Not easy, but the way I’m looking at my life is that I’m on this beautiful life adventure with God. Down to a quarter of a second, He is with me. I can spend those quarter seconds enjoying Him or frustrated by other people. I pick door number one: Enjoying God. I can, therefore, hand over all the disappointments to Him, with my eyes fixed on all the roses in my life. Like getting an email from my daughter, Julie’s teacher this morning saying what a pleasure it is having her in her class. I replied, “It’s a pleasure having her as a daughter!” God has exceeded my expectations in every aspect of my life. It’s just for me to focus on the roses and not the thorns and sticking with this other message from God:
“Remind yourself that alone you are nothing. Can you acquire this beautiful habit of always being with Me? TOGETHER ALWAYS (Wink! Wink!)… Invite Me often to be present in your life, as though you gave Me a ticket for a concert. And keep Me a place of honor in the front row, as if you were concerned that I miss nothing of the spectacle, this spectacle of your daily acts, all lived for Me.” – He and I
God, it’s my honor having You in my life. May all my actions be pleasing to You. Amen.

“AUNTY NIKKI, DON’T YOU THINK GOD GETS TIRED OF YOU?”
Was the question to me from my nephew, Duro, yesterday. Surprisingly, he came to hang out with the God nerd here in the kitchen as I prepared lunch for my mom. I responded, “God loves when I come to Him! In fact, He had this to say to me last night in my appointment with Him (written as if He is speaking directly to me):”
“Don’t you see that My requirements as head of the household extend even to your quarter-seconds? And don’t you feel a burning desire to surrender yourself utterly to My ownership?” – He and I
Not even down to a second, but to a quarter-second, God wants us with Him! God, I’m in!!! I want to completely surrender every quarter second of my life over to You, giving you all the glory and praise through my actions and sucking up all Your love, and enjoying You!!!
I’m so in love with the beautiful running path God led me to with my 47 trees. I go there every morning to give the last tree a high five, and I say to God, “We’re together!” So, no matter the troubles that may show up during the day, I remind myself that it is God and me walking through life together, and HE HAS OUR BACK. With His strength, wisdom, peace, and courage, I can LIGHTLY and JOYFULLY tackle all the difficulties.
And after touching base with that tree every day saying “God, WE’RE TOGETHER,” He also had this to say to me in that late-night appointment:
“Remind yourself that alone you are nothing. Can you acquire this beautiful habit of always being with Me? TOGETHER ALWAYS (Wink! Wink!)… Invite Me often to be present in your life, as though you gave Me a ticket for a concert. And keep Me a place of honor in the front row, as if you were concerned that I miss nothing of the spectacle, this spectacle of your daily acts, all lived for Me.” – He and I
For Your glory God, may we all live lives pleasing to You. Help us to be ALL You have created us to be. Amen.
