“WHO DO YOU SEE WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR?”

That was me to my daughter, Ember, a short while ago. I told her how her nerdy mom was watching her sleep and how much I love her and how proud I am of her. But I want her to most importantly to see herself as God’s girl. To not look to the world for love and approval, but to always see herself through God’s eyes of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE no matter her mistakes, faults, or failures. The world may reject us, but our Father in Heaven loves us!

This is where I am at this moment. KNOWING how loved I am by the Creator of the entire universe. I’m still far, far away from the person I strive to be, but God shows me such love and attention as if I’m the only person in the world.

Like last night, I went to sleep listening to David Goggins, who wrote one of my fav books, ‘Can’t Hurt Me,’ that I’m also currently rereading. I got up this morning, again listening to David Goggins, as my appointment with God this morning. I then drive with my other daughter, Julie, to her dentist appointment, again listening to, you guessed it, David Goggins.

So, coming home from the dentist, I was in a dull mood from not sleeping well and decided I needed to have an appointment with God. I asked Him what page from the werollwithgod.com website I should read to hear from Him. I got a feeling to read page 35. Look what incredibly showed up there:

“And with God holding my heart, NOBODY CAN HURT ME (WINK! WINK!). I shake off the frustrations, and I fix my eyes on God, asking what He would have me to do in every moment.”

With me currently rereading the book, ‘Can’t Hurt Me,’ this was God’s way of letting His girl here know that His sweet, invisible Presence was with her. God is familiar with all our ways, baby! We just have to learn to keep our eyes constantly fixed on Him and seeing ourselves as He sees us – His beloved child. Amen! Some more posts on that page were about David Goggins. I loved this one:

“And strangely enough, I did a video on the new mindset I’m learning from David Goggins. I had spent 2 hours with him on Tuesday for my appointment with God watching his appearance on the Rich Roll podcast to promote his book, ‘Can’t Hurt Me.’ And another 2 hours the following day with my daughters watching it AGAIN. I picked up that instead of getting angry when bad things happen to us, we can have a different mindset by turning that anger into fuel to motivate us to be better with a Can’t Hurt Me attitude.”

“MOMMY, I HAVE THREE VOICES IN MY HEAD”

Said my incredibly wise ten-year-old son, Joshie, to me yesterday. “They are my voice, God’s voice and doubt,” he explained. He even told a little story about how he did something he shouldn’t have, and how God’s voice said to him that was not the right thing to do, so he went back and corrected himself.

And this was just the reality check I needed at that very moment. The crazy lady wanted to make an appearance, but I got a nudge from God to give Joshie a call in Nigeria and have an appointment with him reading from our Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids. Thank God I did! My little spiritual guy correctly reminded me that I must listen to God’s voice in what He would have me to do, and for crazy lady to disappear.

I called a friend to tell her about what Joshie said, and we should practice listening to God’s voice. She admitted to doing something she knew that wasn’t what God would have had her to do, and we agreed to be better in doing what made God happy. Hanging up from her, I had a little appointment with God by myself, and He confirmed what we had just spoken about:

“The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants.” – Matthew 6:33

And let me tell ya, even though it’s  EXTREMELY difficult sometimes to be obedient to God, this has been my experience with Him:

“Now to Him who is able to do infinitely more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20

I praise God! He exceeds my expectations, and His guidance through my spirit hasn’t disappointed me. Yes, I still go through my share of troubles, but I always come through them wiser, stronger, and most importantly, closer to Him because He never leaves or forsakes me. He guides me to stay on the high road being my most loving, excellent and forgiving self no matter what anyone else is doing, knowing everything is between me and Him, not between me and anyone else.

Yes, there are losses and wounds I must endure, but I write them all off against the HUGE blessings and victories that I end up winning. Wink! Wink!

I’M CONSTANTLY RUNNING TO GOD!!!

No shame in my game! And He always figures out these SWEET ways of letting me know His Presence is ALWAYS with me. Woop Woop!

Like yesterday, after playing Tasha Cobbs’ song, ‘For Your Glory,’ for the entire morning, singing to God that I want to be where He is, I asked Him which page to go for an appointment with Him on our family’s website, werollwithgod.com. I looked at a lightbulb’s package and saw the number 20, and I went directly there. Unbelievably it was an old post where I wrote about listening to this exact song that I was singing the entire morning:

“I wanna be where You are

Peace is where You are

Joy is where You are

And Love is who You”

Since then, I’ve played the song over and over and over again, begging God to please let me be where He is. Driving to work today, AGAIN, I played the song for the entire drive. Even getting all emotional about some silly stuff I have going on right now. Begging God to take my mind away from the stresses of the world and to be focused on Him.

Fast forward maybe 30 minutes later, I’m sitting in my office, and I felt the need to hear from God through my meditation book. Continuing from exactly where I had last left off from my appointment with God first this morning, this incredibly shows up after me begging God the entire drive to work for me to where He is, He says:

“Wherever you are, there I am.” – He and I

It doesn’t get any sweeter than this!”

And yesterday was another day where I needed that reminder from Him: “Wherever you are, there I am.” Don’t miss out on these alone times with Him! This world gets to be too much sometimes, and we need GOD!!!

ARE YOU GETTING TO KNOW GOD’S COOL PERSONALITY?

Like about two to three years ago when I purchased my laptop, suddenly, a new desktop wallpaper photo magically appeared with these words one day:

“I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS”

Just out of the blue, it showed up, and the only explanation I still have is that God wanted me to have it as a constant, constant reminder from Him that His invisible Presence is always with me.

Fast forward to last night with me up late working; I saw this message pop up constantly in the background (maybe over 50 times) as I went to all these different screens again reminded that God was there with me as I handled some pretty complex stuff – God is an expert in everything, y’all!

And like I told you, no shame in my game, when I feel anxious or stressed, that’s my cue to take a break and have some alone time with God (life gets overwhelming and WE NEED HIM!) at around midnight and look what astonishingly showed up in my Jesus Calling as one of the accompanied Bible verses for my birthday (of all days!):

“And surely I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20

As if God was saying, ‘Got that, my Nik, ‘AND SURELY I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS!’ Wow! I will never get over the sweetness and coolness of God. He really is a 24/7 God! Look how He found a way to speak to me in that difficult moment. He used this desktop photo that He Himself placed there years ago, and a book that just so happen to have this very verse for my birthday. This lined up extremely too perfectly to be some random coincident!

And the good loving didn’t stop there! As I went for my run this morning, the three different versions of the song Rockstar from Post Malone and Dababy played right after each other, when I thought I had pressed shuffle for God to be my DJ. This was such a God wink at me because I’m so in love with the Dababy’s versions these days. I play them so many times, and I’ve spoken and written about how we should all be Rockstars for God.

It’s my new mindset, for sure. That whether anyone else thinks so or not, I want to be God’s Rockstar shining His light in the world. Even though right now my life feels so messy, chaotic, and crazy. I’m trusting God to get His girl here back on track, one step at a time. And He will do the same for you. Let’s just keep going to Him in every moment asking what He would have us to do, going the extra mile in love, faith, and hope. And let me tell ya, God’s hope doesn’t disappoint; He gives more than we can ever imagine or expect when we stick with Him! Wink! Wink!
