Was me to my brother, Kevin, a short while ago! “I NEED GOD. POINT BLANK PERIOD.” He sweetly asked if I was OK after seeing the title of my YouTube video of the day, “God, please take my hand today.” To be honest, I need Him to take my hand every moment like a little girl about to cross the street. God, please!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Just knowing I handle nothing alone brings me peace. During this fasting period with the Muslims, these verses have been showing up if perfectly timed by God:
“‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;” – Numbers 6:24-25
God reminding me that He blesses and keeps me calms and soothes all the stresses that want to overwhelm me. I grab His hand and hold them super tight as I go through life one moment at a time seeking His help, wisdom, guidance, love, and protection. He continually reminds me, “I am with you always.”
I will never get over the sweetness of God and how much He unconditionally loves us no matter the mistakes and failings of our past. He is saying to us all, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” We can wake up every day and decide to be different people from her we were yesterday. Our lives are beautiful adventures with God, and when we know better, we do better. KK! Let’s stop beating up ourselves over the past.
The challenge is to keep our eyes fixed on God asking His help as we seek to be the people He is calling us to be in every moment: strong, courageous, confident, trusting in Him and at the same time gentle, loving, compassionate, and forgiving of ourselves and others.
Fall a million times, get back up a million and one, giving God our hands to hold. Then look to Him for His HUGS and smiles of approval. Amen.
