GOD, I ACCEPT THE CORRECTIONS

Let me tell ya, God is pretty talkative when you have ears to hear Him. So, late last night, I was up working when a glitch forced me to exit out of the software I was using. And because I know God’s personality so well, I figured out that He was trying to get my attention. ‘OK, Boss!’ I said, and decided to have an appointment with Him.

I felt Him say to listen to a message from Devon Franklin on YouTube. I wasn’t attracted to any of them right away that came up in the original search, and I felt God saying to go directly to his channel. I paid attention! Getting there, I incredibly watched Devon’s last video from a month ago, and it was a direct message from God to me. It was pretty freaky the way he pinpointed precisely some of my current BIG weaknesses.

Like he asked how many of us were checking our phones every other second – MEEEEEE!!!! He explained that one of the keys to a Christian (Godly) lifestyle is FOCUS. He importantly asked, “How focused are you on where God is taking you? Or are you allowing certain distractions to get you off course?” Wow! I’m talking DIRECT message from God to super distracted Nik over here. He summed it up perfectly like this:

“The more FOCUS, the more FOLLOW THROUGH, the more FAVOR, the more SUCCESS. The more DISTRACTIONS, the more DETOURS, the more DEPRESSION, the more ANXIETY.In order for us to be who God has called us to be and do what He has called us to do, it requires FOCUS. We really have to start looking at our environment as to what is distracting us from being all He is calling us to be. Ask, “Lord, what is eating up my time?”

Then, yesterday I felt God whispering to me to add this one sentence at the end of my post: “No judging allowed.” So when I heard Devon say this, I couldn’t believe it:

“One of the main things that come up with Christians today that shouldn’t be apart of the Christian (Godly) lifestyle but is too often associated with the Christian lifestyle is JUDGEMENT.”

Oh my goodness, he was AGAIN talking DIRECTLY to me as He precisely confirmed what I do wrong all day long – JUDGE others when God is calling me to love and enjoy them.

God, I accept, and thank You for the corrections. Today, I recommit myself to being better, hoping to shine even brighter your light of nonjudgement and love to a watching world. So help me God. Amen.

“YOU KNOW YOU THE BADDEST, BABY”

That was what I felt was my reminder from God on our Sunday run together. My phone glitched and suddenly started playing this Future song featuring Nicki Minaj, ‘You da Baddest. I thought I might have come across arrogantly when I did one of my videos afterward, saying I’m the baddest, but that’s God’s calling for us all. Urban dictionary defines Baddest as:

“Supreme in status or standing. The very best at something. The Ultimate Champion or Warrior. Ultimate Title or Crown. The Highest Honor. The Greatest.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m going for the gold medal, not silver, in every aspect of my life – the champion momma, warrior wife, and the greatest blogger and vlogger, and God’s fav girl. (HeeHaw!) – so that when I die, God will say to me, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Amen! Heaven is our audience, and God is our Boss!

Running with my mom’s advice has paid off: “If you’re a street cleaner, be the best street cleaner possible.” When I got my first job, I took such pride in presenting my supervisors with my best work. Shortly after that, my boss in the Bahamas came to my desk and said, “Oneka, I don’t want you going to just any university, I want you going to the same university my son went to in New York. How did this happen after my mom told me she had no more money to help me finish my education, and I needed to get a job? That’s God in action, baby! When you do your best, HE is the one to reward you. That experience in New York changed the trajectory of my entire life. I had such an excellent time there, even working at the headquarters of one of the top banks in the world on Wall Street.

And now that’s my advice for you today! BE THE BADDEST. God is our Boss and He doesn’t disappoint. I want us tapping into God’s Divine mind being the people He would have us to be in every moment. Going the extra mile, all for His glory. Are you having your appointments with Him? That’s where we learn His personality and character and what He expects of us when we’re out in the world.

After saying that my motto for this year is to SHINE BRIGHT, a T-shirt I glimpse on a TV show said, SHINE BRIGHTER. I knew this was another message from Him to do my work for Him in the world, reflecting BRIGHTLY His love of each one of us. No judging allowed. We are each on our own journey with Him. God is love, and He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God. KK?

“YOU SHOULD SEE A THERAPIST”

Someone suggested to me yesterday. But let me tell you, I have the ULTIMATE THERAPIST: GOD. He has been my Wonderful Counselor who has guided my life to a lovely place, no smoking, drugs or alcohol needed. Thank you very much! It’s not always pretty, though, and there are some tricky things I have to endure for Him, but no problem. For this God who is doing 10,000 things for me in one moment, I say, “ANYTHING FOR YOU!” even the things I struggle deeply with I can say, ‘God, I got You!’ I’m a soldier in the army of the Lord!

I feel the SWEETNESS of His Presence ALWAYS with me! Like yesterday after venting that I can’t believe that every year I say I will use this fasting during Ramadan to work on my negative thinking that I allow to constantly drag me down, yet I still struggle with it year after year, the same nagging, depressing thoughts like Nik, what is wrong with you! This wise person said something like the lesson may not just be for you, but it’s also meant to help someone else. Fast forward a few hours later, I asked my son, Joshie to have an appointment with God with me. He said, “Mommy, you pick the number.” I looked at the time and it was 2:20, so I said let’s read day 220. Unbelievably it said:

“Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.” – Hebrews 2:18

Exactly what this person had said. Which is the assignment I’ve gladly accepted from God, to learn crucial lessons from a God perspective of everything I go through, and pass them on to you guys.

Then this morning, RUNNING WHILE FASTING DURING RAMADAN, of all the runs from the Nike Run Club, I did one which I’ve never done before, and unbelievably it was from a Muslim Coach who spoke about RUNNING WHILE FASTING DURING RAMADAN and having to deal with the same negative thoughts that I’m dealing with. Wink! Wink! This was another one of my God winks where everything strangely lined up too perfectly to be a regular coincident. It was my Therapist (God) letting me know that He sees me, and He is with me to help me go through any situation that comes my way. Heehaw! And about these ugly, negative thoughts that plague me, He constantly reminds me of this ONE verse:

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8 (NIV)

GIVE YOUR HEART TO GOD

That’s the best advice I can give you! Where you ask Him to be the Guide and Love of your life! That’s where my heart is, and I have absolutely NO REGRETS!!! This song played on my run with Him today:

And don’t think you have to get all cleaned up, either! I cuss, I go crazy, I listen to whatever music I feel like, I procrastinate A LOT, I get angry, and I know I’m still God’s girl, loved and approved by Him. He said to me through one of my meditation books something like, “I love ALL of you, which includes your faults and weaknesses!” In fact, after writing so many times that God stoops to my level to meet with me, this showed up in another alone time with Him:

“You know how much more intensely one loves when one feels loved. It’s like an animated conversation. Only in this one there is no need for any words. We love; that’s all. And I am much yours that you don’t feel that I come down or that you rise up, but it seems quite simple to you that we talk to each other on the same level, share as equals, even exchange our two hearts… and although you give yourself utterly, you keep your personality and only enhance it the more.” He and I

How beautiful is that! We can keep our personalities exactly as they are but God will help us to make them even more beautiful, like today Him asking me to be kinder to those who have hurt me.

Give your heart to Him. He won’t let you go! Let’s offer our entire lives to Him, every action, every word. Will you say this prayer with me: “God, I give my heart to You.”
