‘HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WITH GOD DO YOU NEED?’

That’s me having some fun with myself as I sat procrastinating about getting an overdue project completed. But, turns out, that alone time with God was perfect, as He reminded me that His invisible Presence is always with me. Of all books, and of all pages, that were close by, I ended up reading these words as I SAT AT MY DESK:

“My friend, Jesus Christ (God) wants us to be serene (calm) WHEN WE ARE AT OUR DESK (Wink! Wink!) and have to face the problems and decisions our work involves.” – Jesus As Friend by Salvatore Canals

That was no coincidence! It was God’s sweet way of revealing His invisible Presence with me, reminding me that I was not handling that project alone. My help comes from the Lord!

Fast forward a few hours later, I needed to hear from God again (no shame in my game!). I kept beating myself up about the terrible rut I’ve been in and in an appointment with my daughter, Ember, God had her to read these words to me:

“The Lord knows you inside and out, and he knows that you are sinful. He knows you cannot be perfect, He doesn’t hate (or even dislike) you when you blow it. Love doesn’t end when you make mistakes. Of course, it breaks God’s heart when you disobey his commands, but like King Asa, you can still be known as a girl or guy after God’s own heart. Make that your goal. Perfection is never possible anyway.

Prayer: Lord, I’m glad serving you doesn’t require perfection because I would fail! Help me to be “fully committed” to you like Asa, focusing on our relationship instead of keeping track of my sins.” – A Purpose Driven Life Devotional For Kids by Rick Warren

Now that’s the right focus, being fully committed to a relationship with God, not perfection. May God help us all!

The next morning, I was blessed to have both of my daughters running with me, and exactly where I had decided to stop was 1.17 miles, and once again, whenever I see 11 and 7 together, I know that it is God reminding me that His invisible Presence was AGAIN with me. I usually stop the run when I get back home, but for some reason, stopped it earlier at that specific location next to my daughter, Ember, who said, “Wow, mom, that 11 and 7 show up a lot for you!” “God is with your momma, boo!” I replied

“The presence of God sought serenely and held on with determination, ought to be a source of deep, intimate joy every day of your life.” I claim it for all of us!

“DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!”

That was me to a single friend when she called me on Saturday telling me about a “relationship contract” she drafted for someone she was dating. The person didn’t sign it, but I told her that if she had to go to that great length to see if this person was serious about her, it was NOT the right match.

And minutes after talking to her, God had something to add to our conversation when this post showed up in my Instagram feed:

“The wrong person makes you beg for attention, affection, and commitment. The right person gives you these things because they love you.” – @knoteasilybroken

I immediately sent her a pic of this because I believe this was a message from Him to her: You don’t have to beg anyone for a commitment, My girl. See how intimately God is involved in our lives? He had the perfect message cued in my feed to share with her.

She also told me about three job interviews she had in one day. The first two didn’t feel right, but the last one she was so excited and enthusiastic about, I got goosebumps just listening to her tell the story. She accepted the job offer on the spot, no doubt that it was the one for her.

And this is what dating is like, I explained. You will KNOW without any doubt that this is the person for you. When my husband met me, he got on his knees the second day afterward and said a prayer, “God, thank You for helping me find my wife.” I gave him a book a week later that said, “I know and I know and I know that we were meant to be together. We will be the world’s most perfect couple.” That was almost 19 years ago, and we’re still going STRONG. We ain’t perfect, but we’re damn close! (SMILE)

My dad gave me the name “Oneka” meaning African Princess. So when my African Prince showed up in the Bahamas to meet me, I knew it was a Divine connection. I said even if God had come down from Heaven and said this was not my husband, I would have argued back with God, ‘This is my husband!’ That’s how sure I was about us. When the devil comes around, I just have to say, “GO AWAY! God Himself connected me with my hubby! Ride or die chick all the way!

So, start listening to God in every decision! That excitement, joy, and peace are what we should look for before making ANY decision. Any sign of stress, doubt, or uneasiness about moving forward in a particular direction is God saying, ‘DON’T DO THAT!’ Kk? Listening to God’s intimate and specific direction has guided my life on a very beautiful path. Amen.

IT IS AS IF I’M IN A BOXING MATCH

And I keep getting knocked down! LOL! But no shame in my game, I go crying to God, as usual, and He is right there to help me bounce back up. This God wink started earlier in the week when I began having appointments with God with my sons in Nigeria while I enjoy my morning coffee, and this showed up in A Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids:

““The LORD directs the steps of the godly. HE DELIGHTS IN EVERY DETAIL OF THEIR LIVES.” – Psalm 37:23

God enjoys watching every detail of your life. He likes watching you study, read, and play. He smiles when he sees you jump, run, or spin. God even enjoys watching you eat and sleep. He doesn’t miss a move you make. That’s how much he loves you…Every act of enjoyment becomes an act of worship when you thank God for it.”

Fast forward to yesterday, I mentioned it in my video after I was so blown away by a conversation I had with someone from the night before, feeling God really does delight in every detail of our lives. I was utterly blown away, like without any doubt; I knew it was another one of His God connections.

In that video, talked all about the appointments with the boys and how we read that God delights in every detail of our lives. Well, fast forward a few hours, when I got knocked down and went crying to God, unbelievably this showed up from exactly where I had last left off in the book ‘He and I’, written as if God was speaking:

“I’m guiding every detail of your life.” (Wink! Wink!)

Wow! Talk about confirmation! Honestly, God exceeds my expectations with His attention to detail in regards to my life. Yesterday, before that fall (LOL), the person from the phone call came over to meet me, and when she quoted this very scripture that I took a picture of in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep a few nights ago, I knew right away that this was God’s way of saying He was behind this meeting:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Thus begins your journey of profound reliance on Me. It is a faith-walk, taken one step at a time, leaning on Me, as much as you need. This is not a path of continual success, BUT OF MULTIPLE FAILURES. However, each failure is followed by a growth spurt, nourished by increased reliance on Me. Enjoy the blessedness of a victorious life through deepening your dependence on Me… The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Jesus Calling

GOD SAVED ME FROM A MAJOR DISASTER

Oh, my goodness! Whenever I think about it, I cringe just thinking how terrible this would have been, if not for God. He is always speaking to us, and some weeks ago, I felt Him telling me that I needed to take care of a matter. I was busy working on something, and I delegated it to our assistant, Martha, to follow up with my husband so we could take care of it. Every day I would ask her about it, feeling in my spirit that this was something we needed to resolve immediately. But, with everything my hubby has always going on, he didn’t take it as a priority. When we finally got to the bottom of it, it was a pending major explosion. The horror! I’m seriously thanking God more than ever that He helped us to avoid such a disastrous situation. GOD, THANK YOU!!! Phew!

I loved a recent appointment with God reading one of my fav meditation books, Jesus Calling:

“Expect to find trouble in this day. At the same time, trust that My way is perfect, even in the midst of such messy imperfection. Stay conscious of Me as you go through this day, remembering that I never leave your side. Let the Holy Spirit guide you step by step, protecting you from unnecessary trials and equipping you to get through whatever must be endured. As you trudge through the sludge of this fallen world, keep your mind in heavenly places with Me. Thus the Light of My Presence shines on you, giving you Peace and Joy that circumstances cannot touch.”

“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” – Psalm 18:30

“”For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”” – Isaiah 41:13

Don’t miss out on the most important relationship, one with God. He delights in every detail of our lives, and He is behind the scenes looking out for us and protecting us from terrible situations. But we must learn His voice through the Holy Spirit. Notice how I felt Him alert me to take care of that matter. Through the alone times with Him, I’m getting better and better at discerning His crucial voice and what He would have me to do on a moment by moment basis.

Block off some time in your schedule to listen to God and what He has to say to you. This book, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, has helped me tremendously in my walk to get closer to Him. I’ll forever be thanking a Facebook friend for introducing me to her writings. A life close to God is the best life!
