I asked a wonderful lady who came to visit me at our office yesterday. She replied, “I want to learn how to hear from God.” Oh my goodness, that made the God maniac here super happy and excited to tell her all about my appointments (alone times) with God reading a variety of spiritual books asking God what specifically He wants to say to me. Prayer is you talking to God, but meditation is God talking to you! These meetings with Him, help me to discern His important voice, so that when I’m back out in the world, I know what it is God would have me to do or say on a moment by moment basis. Don’t play with your relationship with God!
I bragged to this person how He is helping me so much in every aspect of my life, especially relationships and dealing with people – so crucial to living your best life! We need other people! Like my wonderful husband. He can go from one moment being my gift from God to the next moment being my CROSS that I must lovingly and joyfully continue carrying from Jesus for God. LOL!
However, God has been patiently teaching me FLEXIBILITY depending on each person and situation I’m dealing with. From learning God’s voice during the alone times, I can pretty much tell where He would have me to go. Sometimes that means being meek, humble, gentle, loving, merciful, light, joyful, playful and other times He’s calling me to be tough, strong, brave, persistent, courageous, fearless, unflinching, and determined.
So, all day, I listen to Him. When challenges arise, that means even more intense conversations with God because I need His wisdom to guide me through safely. He has been the best Advisor ever. He’ll say to me, “Do this!” “Talk to this person!” “Go here!” I’m talking about specific instructions through my Spirit!
Moreover, before situations do become major challenges, I’m learning to go to Him to set the agenda for every day, “God, what is the work of today, please?” Today, it was running for 5 miles up and down our stairs for about two hours. Believe it or not, this is God’s way of helping me become the Nikki He would have me to be in the world. With every run, I’m gaining endurance, strength, joy, peace, mental clarity, a sense of accomplishment (I did it!), satisfaction and the fortitude to take on whatever life brings my way. I love it! Warrior Nikki, baby!
So as I work on becoming a better me and getting closer to God, I pray I inspire you to do the same. Let’s up our God game!!! When will your alone times with Him take place?
