BETTER DAYS COMIN’ FOR SURE
Yesterday I told my daughter Ember, “Don’t worry, boo. Better days are coming.”
Walked into the office and God DJ’d the playlist.
Kendrick comes on: “BETTER DAYS COMIN’ FOR SURE, MY NIK!”
HEEHAW!!! That’s what I call an update from God.
Ceri puts it like this:
Throughout the day we get little updates. Small nudges on what to do. It’s about noticing the small things.
You might see a dog and a cat being friends. That could be God telling you to befriend someone you wouldn’t normally align with.
You might notice how water moves.
Because God is all-present, His instructions don’t always come the same way. They’re often subtle.
We just have to be observant, obedient, and keep our hearts open through His word, community, and the church.
Yesterday my update was simple: sit back down at the prayer altar. Stay longer with Him.
And right after, this word from Ceri showed up:
Why we need more compassion
1 Corinthians 9:22: “When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.”
One word jumped out at me: compassion.
As Christians, our faith gives us strength a lot of people don’t have. The danger is we expect everyone to handle things the way we do.
But strength isn’t normal. Without faith, people are carrying things alone. They don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. They sink deeper because there’s no voice inside saying, “Hey, I’ve got you.”
Paul reminds us: if you want to bring someone to Christ, you have to meet them in their weakness.
You can’t just say “suck it up.” Sometimes you have to hurt with them. Sit in it.
Be compassionate and say, “Hey, it’s gonna be alright.”
When they ask “How do you know?”
Tell them, “Because my faith tells me. God brought me through, and He’ll bring you through too. If He brings you to it, He’ll take you through it.”
Better days are coming. Not because it’s easy, but because He’s with us.
Stay observant. Stay open.
Meta breakdown: “BETTER DAYS COMIN’ FOR SURE”
This post is about learning to catch God’s updates in real time.
God speaks through the ordinary
You told Ember “better days are coming,” and God lined it up with Kendrick in the office playlist. That’s the point: He’s not limited to the Bible verse or the sermon. A song, two animals being friends, the way water moves – He uses whatever’s around you if your eyes are open. The post invites people to stop waiting for a lightning bolt and start noticing the small nudges.
The update yesterday was “come back to the altar”
You got the instruction, and Ceri’s message showed up right after. That’s how it works when you’re listening: instruction first, confirmation second. It builds trust. You’re showing readers what it looks like to obey the small thing and get fed right after.
The core message is compassionate strength
Ceri’s take on 1 Corinthians 9:22 hits the nerve. You’ve got strength because of faith, but strength without compassion turns into expectation. “Why aren’t you handling this like me?” Paul’s model is different: meet people in their weakness, carry it with them, and speak from that place. That’s how you bring people to Christ without crushing them.
The takeaway is posture, not performance
Observant. Obedient. Open. That’s the rhythm. Not “get it right every time,” but “stay soft enough to hear and move when He speaks.” That’s why the post lands – it’s practical, it’s humble, and it gives people a way to live it today.
Prayer for today:
Father, open my eyes to the small updates You’re sending me today. Teach me to notice You in the ordinary – in songs, in conversations, in the way people move around me. Give me a heart that is observant and quick to obey, even when it’s just “sit back down and pray.”
Make me strong, but never hard. When I see weakness in others, let me respond with compassion, not expectation. Help me carry their burden for a moment, speak Your truth gently, and remind them that You see them.
Thank You that better days are coming, not because life is easy, but because You are with me. Keep my heart soft, my spirit listening, and my steps aligned with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
