That’s my testimony! Like yesterday was such a down day for me. I couldn’t wait to finally get to bed and hang out with God for on our family’s website, werollwithgod.com. That’s where I go to rest on His chest for a little bit when the world gets a little bit too much for me.
I ended up rereading an old post about the song ‘My Hitta’ that was a God wink months ago. Around 2 am, I had debated with my husband as to which one was better, LOVE OR LOYALTY. After another call later on that morning, though, I said to him, “This wife LOVES AND IS LOYAL to you. Ride or die chick forever!’ I go to turn on some music on my speaker minutes after that last conversation with him, and astonishingly this was the song playing, and it said, “I have two words for you: LOVE AND LOYALTY (Wink! Wink!)”
But here’s the sweetness of God. Can you believe my daughter comes into our bathroom playing some loud music (takes after her mom!), puts her phone on shuffle, allowing God to be her DJ, and of all the songs in the world, she ended up playing this very song, ‘My Hitta’ that I had just read about minutes before. No coincidence! This was AGAIN God’s loving way of revealing His invisible Presence with us.
And that’s the love I want us going through life COURAGEOUSLY with, not trying to get our love and approval from other people who can flip flop and change on us from one moment to the next. I want us getting so close to God, that even when others hurt or reject us, we can shake off the disappointments and keep our eyes on HIM being the loving and forgiving people He would have us to be AS WELL AS SUCKING IN ALL OF HIS LOVE AND APPROVAL.
And not be too hard on ourselves, either. To love and forgive ourselves when we’re not the people we would like to be. I had such a great run with Coach Cory from the Nike Running Clup app who reminded me that every run I’m getting a little bit better, as I aim to work on some negative struggles pulling me down. I needed that reminder. I took it as another message from God to the Nik here who is always beating up herself.
Every day we get to do a reset and begin again knowing we have God helping us to become the best versions of ourselves. No judgment. No condemnation. No guilt. He lovingly says, “FORGET THE FORMER THINGS. I’M DOING A NEW THING!” His love is not like any human love, its unconditional, and everlasting. But don’t take my word for it! Say this prayer with me, ‘God, I would like a closer walk with You.’ Amen.
